what is better for gaming, a console or a computer? also, what graphic card would you recommend for a computer

putting prices aside, let’s say i get a 2 gb ram, 300 gb hard drive, and whatever graphic card you recommend to play games, it should be over a grand but not by much. in terms of which system is better to play games (first person shooter, fighting, etc) and which system has better games, should i get a new computer (my current one is very old and crappy, doesn’t even play dvd), or a game console (xbox 360 would be my first choice)?

Console is good for a certain types of game (shooter,sport,fighting,racing,action game)and the computer is good for other types (Strategy,Casino,Simulation). Neither one has the advantage. I use both to play games. If your current pc doesn’t have a dvd, maybe it’s time for you get a new pc. If you decide to get a PC, do not get a system with built-in graphic card that use the Intel chip. Get either a Nvidia or ATI card, they are much better at games and graphics. For nvidia get a GeForce 7 series card because the Geforce series 8 may put you over budget. Same thing for ATI, get something that has similiar performance like the Geforce 7. A good PC years will cost you more than $1000 at least. On the other hand, console like the Xbox 360 or PS3 is cheaper and the graphic is amazing. Take your pick. You should have both a console and a pc to have a perfect gaming experience.
